My little girl has been off school for a couple of days because she has been poorly. Nothing major, she had a slight temperature and the sniffles. I took her to the doctor and was told that antibiotics would not be necessary and that she should rest for a couple of days, take Calpol and keep her fluid intake up. I stayed home from work for a couple of days to look after her.
Her dad lives in Kuwait and either calls or sends her a text every day. So... he calls her last night and goes into a blind panic. Talk about over reaction! It took me over two hours and at least twenty phonecalls to convince him of the following:
1. A mad dash to the Emergency Room would not be necessary.
2. No, she did not need to have an injection (WTF?)
3. We did not need him to 'DHL' anything from Kuwait.
4. That NHS doctors here are just as good as private ones.
5. That the doctor had not prescribed the 'generic' pink medicine you always get given after a visit to a government clinic.
I know he is being sweet and probably feels helpless because she is so far away, but talk about high maintenance. He loves her to bits and I am grateful for that but last night I spent more time calming him down than I did looking after her.
So... fast forward to today. Not a call or a text - talk about bizarre!
