New Year New Blog - same old crappy life!

So... here I am. I have finally got round to starting this blog months after I first began to set it up. Kind of nervous about it. Will anyone read it and if they do will they die of boredom?

I never had the notion to set up a blog although many people I know seem to have two or three on the go. I have, however, been an avid reader of blogs - mainly about Kuwait - for a while now. I am a sort of surreptitious voyeur spying on a world that I used to belong to but am now only nominally part of.

After a while, I wanted to post comments on other peoples' blogs and joined blogger. So... I thought, what the hell, I might as well give it a try, even if it does blow big time.

Speaking of things 'blowing' in general, isn't January the meanest of months wherever you are in the world? I have had Arctic Scottish Januaries like the one I am enduring right now and have had milder, though equally miserable, ones in Kuwait.

January is like penance for having a good time at Christmas/Eid, or whatever. You have no money because you were paid way too early in December and the bills keep coming.

My rescue remedy is lots of traditional Scottish home cooking - soup, mince and tatties and stew. So I have been cooking up a storm and avoiding the scales!
